Aptis for Teens: Vocabulary Test 2
Here’s another Aptis for Teens vocabulary test to help you practise for your Aptis exam. Our practice tests are in the same format as the official Aptis for Teens test.
As you probably know by now, the Core Test includes both a vocabulary test and a grammar test. There are 50 questions in total. You have 25 minutes for this component, divided equally between grammar and vocabulary. That means you have 12.5 minutes for each part.

1) Word matching
You have to match synonyms – words which have the same (or very similar) meaning.
2) Meaning in context
You have to complete the sentence by selecting a word from the drop-down list that perfectly fits in the blank space.
3) Definition matching
You read a definition and you have to choose the word which fits the definition.
4) Collocation matching
You have to match two words which you usually find together.
Remember, the questions are always multiple-choice format with three options to choose from, and you get one mark for each correct answer.
Preparation tips for Aptis for Teens Vocabulary Tests
But how can you prepare for this part of the test? Well, we have some ideas on learning new vocabulary, which you can find by clicking here. It’s also important to read as much as you can in English. That way you see new vocabulary in context, and not just in a list. You can always look up any words you don’t know, but first you should try to guess the word from the context.
We recommend you to keep a notebook for new vocabulary, and to include an example sentence in English. Don’t just translate.
For example, let’s say the new word is ‘jam’. Put that in a sentence: ‘I made some delicious strawberry jam with fruit from the market’. Now think about any possible collocations – words that go together. Did you know that if there’s a lot of traffic on the road and it’s not moving, we call it a ‘traffic jam’? Try to do this with your new vocabulary.
So get your notebook ready, and let’s start the second test!
