Aptis ESOL Grammar Test 4

Here, at last, is a new Grammar Test for you! The Aptis ESOL Grammar Test is part of the Core Test. Our grammar tests all follow the official exam format, and we also explain any wrong answers.

As always, if you want details about the test format, go to Aptis Grammar Practice Test 1. But here’s  a quick reminder for you about the Core Test. It takes 25 minutes, so you have a maximum of 12.5 minutes for grammar and 12.5 for vocabulary.

The grammar component is always multiple-choice, with three options for each question.  Most of them look like formal or semi-formal written English, but some are in the format of a brief conversation.  The idea behind this is to cover the use of grammar in speaking, and these questions include both formal and informal language.

All our grammar and vocabulary tests are in official exam format and follow the exact exam timing. We’ve done the tests separately in order to help you focus on the different components, so grammar posts are colour-coded blue, and vocabulary posts are green. In addition to the exam-style tests, you’ll find lots of different mini-tests and exercises to help you practise general grammar and vocabulary.

In order to help you to improve, we’ve designed our practice tests to include simpleexplanations of grammar rules if you make a mistake.

Our vocabulary tests are divided into four sections in order to familiarise you with the different question-types. You’ll find explanations of these in the vocabulary posts.

And remember you can always check on those grammar points in the B1, B2 & C1 Grammar Reference. If we haven’t covered them yet, we recommend Raymond Murphy’s excellent English Grammar in Use series.

So let’s get started – here’s another practice test for you.
